What are the alternatives to Bluebeam Revu?
The four most often weighed against Revu for PDF drawing work are Redline (free plan; Plus $9 a month or $90 a year with calibrated length and area; Pro $15 a month or $150 a year with calibrated takeoff, deductions and Dynamic Fill; in a browser), Adobe Acrobat Pro ($239.88 a year prepaid; distance, area and perimeter), PDF-XChange Editor (from $62 as a perpetual Windows licence; scale calibration and measurement export to CSV) and Xodo (from $95.88 a year; its pricing page does not describe measurement tools).

Is there a free Bluebeam alternative?
Redline has a free plan: review markup with clouds, callouts, text, stamps, pen and highlighter, reading the annotations already in a PDF someone sends you, up to 3 saved drawings, and a flattened PDF export carrying a small footer. Calibrated length and area are on Plus, and full takeoff on Pro. Every account starts with 30 days of Pro, no card, so the paid tools can be tried before the account settles onto Free. The Revu 20 switch offer runs for accounts opened by 31 January 2027.
What is the cheapest Bluebeam alternative?
On published US prices, the lowest first-year outlay is PDF-XChange Editor from $62 as a perpetual Windows licence with a year of maintenance. Of the subscriptions, Xodo Web is $95.88 a year, Redline Plus $90 with calibrated length and area, and Redline Pro $150 with full takeoff, though Xodo's pricing page does not describe measurement tools. Cheapest is not the same as suitable: check that the tool measures what you need to measure.
Which Bluebeam alternative works on a Mac?
Redline runs in any modern browser, so it works on macOS with its full toolset. Adobe Acrobat has a native macOS application and Xodo lists desktop support for macOS. PDF-XChange Editor lists Windows 10 and later only. See what works for Bluebeam on a Mac for Bluebeam's own position.
Which one fits
Redline
For the architect or engineer who reviews and measures drawings on their own. Takeoff with volumes, counts, deductions and Dynamic Fill is on Pro, review sets with length and area on Plus, the toolset is the same on a Mac or an iPad, and there is a free plan after the trial.
Adobe Acrobat Pro
For an office whose PDFs are mostly documents rather than drawings, and which wants editing, converting, forms and signing in one tool. Its measuring covers distance, area and perimeter. Redline and Acrobat compared.
PDF-XChange Editor
For someone on Windows who would rather pay once than subscribe. Its own page lists scale calibration, distance, area and perimeter measurement, and CSV export of measurements, at a one-off price. The supported system it lists is Windows 10 and later.
Xodo
For general PDF work at a low subscription price across web, desktop and mobile. Its pricing page does not describe measurement tools, so confirm what it offers before relying on it for takeoff.
Staying on Bluebeam
